They have to write clearly, concisely, and creatively, and capture the essence and details of the food, service, and ambiance. They also have to write objectively and fairly, and back up their opinions with facts and evidence. Food critics have to follow the editorial guidelines and deadlines of their media outlets, and edit and proofread their own work.
